What is the going rate for the Tooth Fairy nowadays?

Huge rite of passage going down in my house. It's the first wiggly tooth and I am not prepared. Help a mama out! What do I need to know? Do I need to carry around a wet washcloth until it's out? And what is the going rate for the Tooth Fairy? What on earth do you do with the tooth after you've absconded with it in the night? EEK!
