As you can tell from the local news reports Fire Season is already underway. How do you prepare for and ultimately prevent a fire disaster?

On June 4th at 6:30 PM

at the Helena Middle School Auditorium

Statewide Wildfire Awareness Week, hosted by the Governor's Office of Community Service ( http://serve.mt.gov/montana-wildfire-awareness-week/ ) begins June 3 with a press conference at the Capitol that evening, the Governor will speak about the upcoming fire season. On June 4th @ 6:30pm, representatives from the Colorado Springs Fire Department will be here to speak with our community about the devastating Waldo Canyon fire last summer.

Their fire marshal and wildfire mitigation manager will have a presentation to help our community understand the risks and preparation for a fire like that - which could easily be Helena's south hills. Then we'll have a panel of local fire and emergency officials available for a question and answer session with a moderator.

Watch for a Facebook event page link with further information.

The FireSafe Montana site lists events across the state: http://firesafemt.org/events/  and they provide excellent resources for the public on their page http://firesafemt.org/ .

We suggest that you check out the FireSafe Montana website and have an evaluation done on your property ASAP. There is grant money for matching dollars available for homeowners' mitigation efforts.
