Taking the Plunge - by Heidi O’Brien

I’ve got to be honest, I’m feeling a bit of the winter blues this week. It’s time to inject some summer into our winter. As the flakes are currently falling from the sky, how am I going to pull this off?

Summer = swimming. I’ve got this covered!

A couple of Helena’s health clubs offer one day rates and have some nice places to splash!

The Broadwater Athletic Club & Hot Springs offers a mineral pool which means not only can you swim you can also receive all the benefits of a hot spring soak. The Broadwater is open from 8:00 am to 8:30 pm on Saturday and 9:00 am to 8:30 pm on Sunday. They are located just outside of Helena on Highway 12 West. For more details about their pool and pricing visit www.thebroadwater.com .

Capital City Health Club also offers a pool that my kids just love. I like it too! Because the pool is also used for therapy, it’s heated. It has a waterfall feature and a jetted lazy river that has the power to capture the boys for hours! On Saturday and Sunday Capital City is open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. For more details about the club and one-day admission visit www.cchc.co .

If the road conditions are good, the half-hour drive to Boulder Hot Springs is completely worth it.

There’s nothing like putting your head on a noodle and looking up at the beautiful Montana summer sun and snow-covered mountains. You can also pack a picnic lunch and dine at one of the picnic tables outside the Boulder Hot Springs B & B. Boulder is open from 12 noon to 8 pm through March 31, when they change their summer hours. For all the details visit www.boulderhoutsprings.com .

I’ll see you poolside. Be sure to wear your shades – my legs are a blinding shade of white!
