Something ridiculously cute to help you on hump-day.

The robins have safely made their way off of my front porch.

And then this happened in the backyard.

This is an adolescent male Great Horned Owl.

On the right is his sister.

Aw man, she gives him a peck on the cheek.

He seems rather nonplussed.

Or. . . is he telling her he doesn't want girl germs.

Whatevs, bro.

He skulks away.

She's sorry, cuz they are besties afterall.

He's already forgotten about it and decides to investigate what a leaf tastes like.

Apparently, not very good.

Time to go. Follow the leader!

Wait for me!

Note: This all really happened in my backyard on Monday afternoon right before the storm. I feel super lucky to have spied these kooky adolescents. For more info on raptors in Montana check out The Montana Raptor Conservation Center at http://www.montanaraptor.org/ .
