Here is what is going on this week, July 6-12.

Butte has a couple of things going on this week. The 7th and the 9th there is a Teens in Training Program at the World Museum of Mining from 9am to Noon. The program pairs teens with mentors to experience museum operations. The 8th there is a summer youth program: Under Ground Adventure at the World Museum of Mining and runs 9am to Noon and the cost is $15. This weekend, July 10-12, is the Montana Folk Festival!!! This festival is a free event featuring hundreds of musicians, dancers and performers on multiple stages. Enjoy reggae, Cajun, merengue, blues, gospel, mariachi, Native American drummers and singers, soul music, Canadian Celtic, New Orleans brass band jazz, bluegrass, old time, West American, and Quebecois. Children activities, folk life demonstrations and workshops. Artists, craftspeople, and food vendors. For more info, visit www.montanafolkfestival.com.  July 12 there is something called the Bull-a-Rama at the Butte Vigilante Rodeo Grounds, 6354 Albany Ave. I am guessing that it is a rodeo. Gates open at 5:30pm and the show starts at 7pm. Food is available. Tickets are $12 for adults and kids 12 and under are free when they come with an adult.

Anaconda’s famous Goosetown Softball Tournament is this weekend, July 9-12. The tournament will be held at Washoe Park and other ball fields.

Every Thursday night in Missoula at Caras Park there is Downtown Tonight. Enjoy live music, food vendors and a beer garden during the 15th annual evening shindig. A different family activity is on tap each week. This week you will see the Best of Missoula bands.

This summer in Big Fork you can catch the musical “Footloose” being performed at the Big Fork Summer Playhouse, July 7th at 8pm and July 10th at 8pm.

This weekend in Billings there is the Last Best Country Fest, July 10-11. Big and Rich will headline Fridays show and Hank Williams JR will headline Saturdays show. Both Friday and Saturday the Country fest is from 3:30-11pm at South Park.

July 10-25 in Helena you can catch the musical “Oklahoma!” being performed at the Grandstreet Theatre. The 10th the show is at 7:30, on the 11th you can catch the show at 2:30 and 7:30, and the 12th the show is at 2:30.

July 12-18th is the Stillwater County Fair in Columbus, about 40 miles outside Billings. This is the 85th annual county fair, it will showcase the talents of 4-H and FFA members. Offerings include vendors, a dance, an FFA tractor show, pig wrestling, a livestock sale and exhibits.

Shannon is Montana Parent Magazine's intern for the summer. She is currently a senior at the University of Montana Western. She is a Butte native with strong Irish roots. She doesn't have kids of her own yet but she has 4 dogs that she loves and treats as her own.
