Hello everyone, Munchkin here blogging for the first time.

I have been doing some research to find out what is happening around the state each week, kid appropriate. I found that there are quite a bit of activities that go on in Montana but not all of them are kid friendly. After some searching I found a couple of kid appropriate activities going on under the Big Sky for the week June 8-14.

There are a couple of activities going on in Missoula. There is an art show called the “Big Sky Branch Art Show” which is the big sky branch of Missoula Public Library which hosts an exhibit of works by all ages; pieces are accompanied by a short description of the hero depicted. The art show is taking place at Big Sky High School, from June 8-11 at 3:30-7:30.

Missoula also has Out to Lunch which takes place every Wednesday at Caras Park from 11-2. They have live music going on and also a wide variety of food vendors. If you are in Missoula I recommend going to Out to Lunch, it is a very relaxing time and you get to spend some time outside in the fresh air.

Helena also has Out to Lunch that takes place every Thursday during the summer at Great Northern Town Center from 11:30-1:30.

Now on to Virginia City. I love Virginia City and would recommend going there no matter what, but if you are looking for activities here are some for this week:

The Brewery Follies are starting up for the summer this is a fun-filled cabaret show, full of skits, goofiness and improv, which continues in the 19th century atmosphere of Montana’s 1stbrewery. The Brewery Follies are very entertaining, you will be laughing the whole time. The shows are located at the old brewery, show times: June 8 at 4pm and 8pm, June 9 at 8pm, June 10 at 8pm, June 11-14 at 4pm and 8pm.

There is another activity going on in Virginia City June 12-14 and it is Irish Weekend! Now this sounds very fun to me, probably because of my strong Irish roots. This weekend will be filled with family friendly fun: music, painting the green stripe on Wallace St, parade, food, culture info, and history!

The Butte Farmers Market is this Saturday and will be every Saturday through the summer from 8:30-1:00 on West Park Street.

This week in Bozeman the downtown art walks begin on Friday, June 12, at 5pm. Also this Saturday is the Book Swap that is taking place at the Gallatin Valley Mall form 10-2.

Check out our calendars for more!

Shannon is Montana Parent Magazine's intern for the summer. She is currently a senior at the University of Montana Western. She is a Butte native with strong Irish roots. She doesn't have kids of her own yet but she has 4 puppies that she loves and treats as her own.
