I had seen a new children’s resale store near my daughters Tae Kwon Do studio but when I saw all of the strollers out front I assumed it was mostly for babies or very young children, kind of like Kidstuff used to be. With my youngest almost three and my oldest in middle school, I didn’t imagine there would be much for me there but I am so happy I actually went in and checked it out.
Growth Spurts is fantastic. I walked out of there with jeans and a winter coat for my 11 year old, a very new looking, adorable dress for my 5 year old and a drum and puzzle for my little guy. (He was with me so he was far more interested in the toys than the clothes.)
Growth Spurts is now Bozeman’s only children’s resale store. It used to be a part of Bibs and Binkies but Bibs and Binkies now focuses on retail.
Growth Spurts opened its expanded store on April 1st at its new location, 2621 W. College St. Suite B. It’s in the shopping center across from the Chronicle, the one with Café Zydeco, right next to Coldwell Banker. [Click here for a map.] The owner, Joanie, makes you feel totally comfortable being there even when your two year old is making his way through the toy section with a drum.
They carry clothing sizes 0-10/12. They buy your things outright and mail you a check, it is not consignment, which I prefer because you don’t have to keep checking back to see if your items sold or not. They sell children’s clothing and shoes, maternity clothes, toys and lots of gear…strollers, pack-n-plays, slings, bumbo chairs, etc. You can also rent some of the gear if you’re going on a trip, which I think is a great idea after years of buying things like extra car seats and strollers for trips back east with my three kiddos.
You don’t have to make an appointment to sell there but there is a 50 item limit on clothing so pick your best stuff to take in. They are very active on Facebook and often advertise sales like “Thrifty Thursdays” on their page so be sure and check it out. There will be coupons for the store at the upcoming Halloween Swap at Gallatin Valley Mall on October 5th.
