I had the opportunity the other day to visit with Amy Prechter at the new home of Cedar Ridge Equines at 555 Rocky Road in Bozeman. Click on the map below to go directly to Google Maps for directions.
Cedar Ridge Equines is a full-service horse facility offering training, lessons, summer camps, sales and breeding, specializing in performance Morgan and Quarter Horses for show and pleasure.
A brand new 70x104 indoor is underway and will be ready before June. The 100 x 100 outdoor arena is ready to go!
Camps are starting to fill up. Amy keeps the camper/instructor ratio at 5/1 and has a large number of teenaged aides to assist. Personally, I love how she is combining the mentorship of teaching about horses to kids of all skill levels and then continues that, by showing the teen helpers a possible path for their future endeavors in the horse community.
Cedar Ridge provides a safe, fun and educational time for all of our campers and horses! Offering a variety of camps and clinics for all ages, levels and disciplines of riding. At Cedar Ridge Equines the philosophy promoted to all students is 'Dream It, Believe It, Achieve It!'
Amy told me, "One thing that we really believe in is showing our campers how the skills we teach about, processes and responsibilities also apply to their home life. Taking care our their belongings and their homework. It's a transferable sense of discipline."
So what do you need to know Mom and Dad?
Campers need to wear long pants (jeans work great) and heeled boots. Helmets are required.
Campers are welcome to bring their own horse, but must approve it prior to camp! Additional fees apply for boarding your horse. Many of the campers opt to use the horses at Cedar Ridge.
The last day of camp, campers will participate in week end "showdeo" to show off what they learned throughout the week to their family and friends. Campers exhibit the equine related crafts that they have made and showcase the skills that they have learned throughout the week.
The show is followed by a potluck BBQ.
