Being Green

The green issue is out and I've been thinking about how we as a family try to be green. I suppose we are typical. . . we recycle, don't run the water the whole time while brushing our teeth, generally being mindful.

I love that "being green," has such a clear meaning and the color itself is just so powerful. Mint green, evergreen, pea soup, electric lime and of course grassy green all evoke some of the best memories in life.

I asked my son what it means to be green. He said very simply, "We like a clean environment not a yucky environment." Pausing for a moment, he added, "We don't want garbage monsters to take over the world."

That's right son, that's right.
