Wow, can you believe it's already day 3 of school? The summer flew by, the shopping is done, now back to the routine of school nights and school mornings...
We are always in search of easy, healthy dinner recipes so we have time to work on homework and wind down. Please share some of your favorites with your fellow Montana Parent's, we'd love to hear your ideas!
Here is a quick dinner that the kids can help make:
Make Your Own Pizza Night
• Pizza Crust We found great pre-made cooked pizza crusts at Joe's Parkway (freezer section) and Town & Country (deli area), just apply your toppings and bake! Or if you have a little more time try On The Rise's pre-made raw pizza dough for sale at Town & Country (near the yogurt section), or the Co-op sells their own version as well, both are excellent.
•Sauce There are many great pre-made Pizza Sauces out there, we like Muir Glen Organic, but there are lots of options out there. Or if you want to try something different you can use pesto, alfredo sauce, or ricotta cheese for the base layer of your pie.
• Toppings We like Prosciutto, garlic, red onions, feta cheese, parmesan cheese, sliced tomatoes and fresh basil, but just plain mozzarella cheese and pepperoni or sausage are always great too.
Layout all of your topping options on the counter as a buffet and let everyone make their own pizzas. My kids get very excited about make your own pizza night, and everyone has to try each others creation.
Pre-heat a pizza stone if you have one, or a sheet pan at 400 degrees. Heat each pizza until the crust browns and cheese melts aprox. 10-15 minutes.
