Walk. Talk. Explore. with GVLT's Discovery Walks, family friendly, free, guided walks on the Main Street to the Mountains trail system. Nonprofit partners and volunteer leaders will share their knowledge with you during a casual walk with a group of new friends. New to trails? New to town? Looking for something to do with the kids? June 1 10:00am Nature Journaling Walk @ Sourdough Trail
Stop, look around, and listen. Bring a journal and Toyia Hatten will help you write, draw and reflect on the nature that surrounds you as she introduces you to the practice of nature journaling. Meet at Tuckerman Park off of Goldenstein Lane.

June 4 9:45am Toddling Tuesdays Family Walk with Roots Family Collaborative’s Fresh Air Mamas @ Regional Park
Be a part of a welcoming community of mothers and join us as we explore the trails around Bozeman while making connections, feeling the benefits of nature, and becoming empowered together. Bring your toddler and go at your own pace. Meet at the Dinosaur Playground.

June 5 6:30pm Hiking and Backcountry Skills Walk @ Drinking Horse Trail
Join Griffin Lawrence, backcountry guide, as he shares all that you need to know to backpack or hike in the backcountry including safety, what to bring and how to be prepared. Meet at the Drinking Horse trailhead.

June 6 5:30pm Bozeman Sculpture Park Tour with Gallatin Art Crossing @ Gallagator Trail
Join a Board Member from the Gallatin Art Crossing and learn about the unique sculptures and artists that line the Gallagator Trail from the Library to Peets Hill. Meet outside in front of the Bozeman Public Library.

June 7 10:00am Wildflower Walk @ Mt. Ellis Trail
Carolyn Hopper, Wildflower enthusiast and expert, will lead you on a walk through the open fields of the Mt. Ellis Trail to find and identify the wildflowers that bloom in the beginning of June. Meet at the gate at the end of Mt. Ellis Lane off of Bozeman Trail Rd. Optional carpool/ caravan from Museum of the Rockies, meeting at 9:30am

June 8 7:00am Birding Walk @ Sourdough Trail
Have you heard any chirping birds this spring? Join Vickie Saab, wildlife biologist, to spot and identify some of our feathered friends above. Meet at Tuckerman Park off of Goldenstein Lane

June 10 9:30am Sensational Senses Kids Walk with Montana Outdoor Science School @ Bozeman Pond
Notice anything funny about this trail? Put your senses to the test on an unnatural trail, enjoy a familiar place from a new perspective, and discover where to search for unique and exciting treasures! Meet at the picnic area on the south side of Bozeman Pond Park.

June 11 9:45am Fresh Air Mamas Walk with Roots Family Collaborative @ Drinking Horse Trail
Be a part of a welcoming community of mothers and join us as we explore the trails around Bozeman while making connections, feeling the benefits of nature, and becoming empowered together. Bring your kiddos and walk at your own pace. Meet at the Drinking Horse trailhead.

June 12 5:30pm Physical Geography of the Gallatin Valley @ Peets Hill
Bill Locke will help you see the Gallatin Valley landscape through a new lens as he shares his knowledge of the geography and geology of the region from the top of Peets Hill. Meet at the base of Peets Hill.

June 13 5:30pm Walk with a Health Provider with Bozeman Health@ Peets Hill
Take a walk for your health! Join a provider from Bozeman Health for a conversation about how to lead an outdoor healthy life. Meet at the base of Peets Hill.

June 14 9:30am Summer Survival Kids Walk with Montana Outdoor Science School @ East Gallatin Rec. Area
Prepare for a great adventure by learning compass basics, survival necessities, and preparation skills to stay safe and have fun all summer long! Meet at the picnic tables on the south side of the bathroom building.

June 15 9:30pm Constellation Night Walk with In Focus Astronomy @ Peets Hill
Join Space Naturalists from In Focus Astronomy for a space-themed night hike! Learn about the constellations, their mythology, and the story of how their stars formed in space. A short stargazing session with a telescope will follow. Please bring your own headlamp, preferably with a red light setting to preserve night vision. Meet at the base of Peets Hill.

June 17 9:30am Amphibious Adventures Kids Walk with Montana Outdoor Science School @ Sourdough Canyon Trail
Did you know that Montana has native tiger salamanders and chorus frogs? Can you guess where they live? Let’s get outside and explore the habitats of our amphibious neighbors. Meet at the Sourdough Canyon trailhead at the end of Sourdough Canyon Rd., off of Nash Rd.

June 19 6:00pm How Trails are Made Walk with GVLT Trails Project Manager @ Sourdough Trail
Have you ever wondered how trails are made? How are they designed? Who decides where they go? And who pays for them? Matt Marcinek, GVLT Trails Program Manager, will give you a behind the scenes look at the process, start to finish. Ask questions of a trails expert! Meet at Tuckerman Park off of Goldenstein Lane.

June 22 9:00am Walk with an Acupuncturist @ South Cottonwood Trail
Walking the path of ancient Chinese medicine, learn about chronic stress, and explore the different types of stress reduction techniques right on the trail! Meet at the South Cottonwood trailhead at the end of Cottonwood Canyon Rd.

June 24 9:30am Buggin’ Out Kids Walk with Montana Outdoor Science School @ Drinking Horse Trail
Creep and crawl your way around a trail to explore the hiding spots of your favorite insects! How many insects can we find!?  Meet at the Drinking Horse trailhead.

June 25 5:30pm Walk with a Health Provider  with Bozeman Health @ Peets Hill
Take a walk for your health! Join Sebastian White, MSN, FNP with the Diabetes and Nutrition Center to learn about the benefits of physical activity for prevention and treatment of diabetes. Thanks to Bozeman Health for leading a conversation about how to lead an outdoor healthy life. Meet at the base of Peets Hill.

June 26 5:00pm Recreation and Agriculture @ Highland Glen Nature Preserve
Join MSU Gallatin County Agriculture Extension Agent Josh Bilbao for a conversation about the intersection between recreation and agriculture. How can we co-exist with cattle grazing and what are the impacts on the landscape?

June 27 5:30pm Wildflower or Weed Walk:  Gallatin Valley’s Noxious Weeds with MSU Extension @ Peets Hill
Join MSU Extension agents to identify noxious weeds on Peets Hill. They’ll highlight Gallatin County’s newest listed weed, ventenata, a highly invasive annual grass that is threatening agriculture in Montana. Meet at the base of Peets Hill.

June 28 9:30am Wonderful Water Kids Walk with Montana Outdoor Science School @ Sourdough Trail
Wonderful Water: Everybody needs water! Come discover what a healthy river needs, explore a marsh, and get your feet wet! A great way to cool down and enjoy a hike! Meet at Tuckerman Park off of Goldenstein Lane.

June 29 4:00pm Geology Rocks Walk @ M Trail
Hike to the M with Angela Lexvold while learning about the geology of the area, looking at rocks, and getting great views. We’ll take the longer, more gradual incline up to the “M” and back, not the steep route. Meet at the M trailhead.
